Iran men's youth handball team heads to Russia

TEHRAN, Mar. 14 (MNA) – Iran's men's youth handball team left for Russia Thursday morning to participate in the Russian international tournament in Moscow to set up a camp and conduct preparatory meetings.

Iran’s national team will play 3 friendly games with the youth handball teams of Russia and Belarus in the Moscow international tournament.

Iran's youth handball team is in the same group as the national teams of Iraq and India in the 10th edition of the Asian Men’s Youth Handball Championship in Group A.

Iran national handball team will return home on March 19.

This edition of the championship marks the second time Tehran will be hosting the event, following their successful hosting in 2006.

The defending champion and record titleholder is the Republic of Korea, who clinched victory in 2005, 2014, and 2022.

The competition will also serve as a qualification event for the 11th IHF Men’s Youth (U19) Handball World Championship in Slovenia, scheduled for July/August 2025.

The top five teams from this competition will earn qualification spots for the World Championship.
