Gov. has to double efforts after huge turnout at elections

TEHRAN, Mar. 06 (MNA) – Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi said people's turnout at polling stations has given the authorities the mandate to solve people's problems and meet their expectations.

Raeisi said in the cabinet meeting on Wednesday that the March 1 elections were fair and transparent, stressing that the passionate turnout of the people to polling stations has given the authorities the legitimate mandate to solve their problems. He urged the government bodies and authorities to intensify efforts to live up to people's expectations.

The president referred to the oil minister's report after the 7th summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in Algeria, saying that Iran was praised in this summit due to its successful and progressive measures in the field of declining gas flare (gas emission from refineries), as well as a 5% increase in production during the past 2 years in comparison with the average oil sector's growth of 2.5% of the production of other OPEC members.

He emphasized that declining gas flare should be completed immediately to prevent the burning of the national wealth and its release into the air.

The 7th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Member Countries of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) was held in Algeria on 2 March 2024.
