Tehran's interim Friday prayers leader Hujjat al-Islam Mohammad Hassan Abu Torabi Fard said in this week's Friday Prayers sermon in Tehran that "A nation that has unity is a symbol of determination, will, hope, and cause."
He also said that national unity and Islamic unity are two definitive strategies for consolidating the pillars of national might and turning threats into opportunities.
"This unity is the result of understanding, dialogue, interaction originating in rationality and ethics and moving in the direction of the law," the senior cleric added.
"In the social teachings of Islam, the unity and cohesion in the society is insisted upon more than any other principle," he continued.
Aboutorabifard further said that in Islamic teachings, people's votes and democracy in ruling the country are emphasized. "The close and intertwined links between citizens and the administration of the country and the formation of political institutions and systems is one of the most important pillars of religious democracy and national might."
