Iran urges UN to immediately take action for Gazan citizens

TEHRAN, Oct. 14 (MNA) – The Iranian foreign minister urged the United Nations to immediately take action for the situation of the Palestinians amid Israeli aggression.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks in the meeting with the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wennesland at the venue of Iran's embassy in Beirut, Lebanon on Saturday.

Referring to the Resistance's recent military operation in Occupied Lands, Amir-Abdollahian said in the meeting, "What the Resistance did was the result of the extremism of the Zionist regime's Prime Minister Netanyahu."

Criticizing Washington's approach toward the Gaza issue, he said that even now, the US advises everyone to exercise self-restraint, but it stands by the Zionist regime.

"If the UN wants to do something, it must act immediately to stop the attacks of the Israeli regime, especially against citizens and civilians," he said, referring to the Zionist regime's move to relocate the citizens of Gaza.

Another important issue is the sending of humanitarian aid, which should be done immediately and the International Red Cross should be activated in this regard, the Iranian top diplomat said, adding that the United Nations and the Red Cross should open a path for the transfer of civilian casualties.

There are reports that the Zionist regime uses prohibited bombs against citizens, he also said, adding that it is necessary for the United Nations to investigate and form a research group in this regard.

The UN official, for his part, said that the increase in civilian casualties is very worrying and it is necessary to stop the war or limit it in order to send humanitarian aid immediately.
