Intl. Quran exhibition opens in Tehran

TEHRAN, Sept. 26 (MNA) -- The 14th Holy Quran International Exhibition opened in Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Mosalla earlier today, with Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad-Hossein Saffar Harandi and a number of Iranian cultural figures attending the opening ceremony.

Traditional Iranian art, calligraphy, miniatures, and books on the Quran will be displayed in the exhibition, and 50 discussion sessions on the Quran will be held on the sidelines of the event.

This year’s exhibition will focus on increasing people’s understanding of the Quran and encouraging them to put what they have learned into practice in their lives, the organizers said.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Saffar Harandi said, “It is a good sign that this year’s exhibition is coinciding with the Sacred Defense anniversary, during which we should commemorate the people who were really trained based on Quranic teachings.”

The exhibition also features a section entitled The Quran and Sacred Defense.

Since the current Iranian calendar year has been named after the Prophet Muhammad (S), organizers have allocated a special pavilion to artworks and cultural products about him.

The Holy Quran International Exhibition is held annually in Tehran during the holy month of Ramadan.
