Gas production at South Zagros reaches 220m cu.m per day

TEHRAN, Apr. 10 (MNA) -– Gas and condensate production at three regions of Fars, Bushehr and Hormozgan provinces hit the daily capacity of 220 million cubic meters and 60,000 bpd in that order last year, the Persian service of ISNA reported on Monday.

The South Zagros Oil and Gas Producing Company, being in charge of production in the regions, managed to supply the nation with daily flow of 196 million cubic meters gas last summer while some was directed to the oilfields in the southern regions for injection process.

“Last year, the annual production of gas and condensate reached 54.2 billion cubic meters and 15.6 million barrels correspondingly, and by bringing Shanol, Varavi and Homa gas fields into operation in October-November 2006, the projected gas production may increase to 256m cu.m. per day,” executive director of the company Javad Owji stated.

Moreover, exploitation of Sarvestan, Saadatabad and Khesht oilfields in 2008 would add another 50,000 bpd to the country’s daily oil production, he elaborated, adding that an amount of 14 billion rials has also been taken into account to implement an industrial waste water project in the near future. “It is in line with our commitment to the environmental standards,” Owji noted.

The Zagros holds 19 centers for gas collection and separation and operates 122 active gas wells as well as a gas processing refinery. Kangan, within its operation territory, is the largest gas field in the Middle East after the South Pars as Tabnak offers the chief sweet gas reserve in the ME.
