Taliban denies US claims on receiving arms from Iran

TEHRAN, Dec. 02 (MNA) – Afghan Taliban group has issued a statement on its website rejecting the US claims that it is receiving weapons from Iran.

A spokesman for the Afghan Taliban group, Qari Muhammad Yousuf Ahmadi, has said in a statement which is published on the group’s website, strongly denying recent claims made by the US officials on receiving arms from Iran.

Yusuf Ahmadi stated in the statement that .since a long time ago Taliban have had weapons depots, which are spread in various parts of Afghanistan, as well as a large portion of modern weapons which have been confiscated during conflicts from the enemies.

According to the Taliban spokesman, the United States is seeking to deflect global public attention from its failures in Afghanistan by leveling such unfounded claims.

Ahmadi also called on the United States to accept its defeat in Afghanistan.

Few days ago, US special envoy for Iran, Brian Hook displayed pieces of weapons in the US Department of State, claiming they were given to Taliban by Iran.

But, Iran embassy in Kabul has reacted to the US official, saying the claims were aimed at marring Iran-Afghanistan relations.
