The so-called Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) issued an announcement on Saturday that it had agreed with the government of the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to form committees that would "chart a roadmap to a democratic, decentralized Syria.”
This important development happened after the heads of US-backed coalition of mainly Kurdish militants travelled to Damascus to negotiate with the Syrian government.
Mehr News Agency reached Syrian MP Maher Mowghe to ask his opinion on this development.
The Syrian law-maker described the agreement as an end to all US-backed dreams of disintegrating Syria. “We are aware of US role in financing and supporting terrorist groups and their objective for disintegrating Syria. This issue is quite clear for us. The SDC forces should come to this revelation that the Americans are not after the Kurds’ benefits. ”
He praised the Kurds for making such a decision and added “the importance of this agreement lies in this fact that the Kurds have quit disintegration dreams backed by US because these illusions are not beneficial for Kurds and in fact, abandoning these destructive ambitions, the Kurds have aligned once again with their own country and government.”
He also added that there is still concerns and worries about Americans’ next move after this agreement.
