Iran starts U16 WABA C’ships with victory

TEHRAN, Jul. 29 (MNA) – Iranian boy's basketball team defeated Iraq in its first match of West Asian Basketball Association (WABA) U16 Championships.

The event kicked off on Saturday in Iran’s Northern city of Gorgan and it will wrap up on August 2.

Iranian squad managed to earn a 91-36 win over Iraq’s basketball team, in a match held on Saturday in Gorgan’s Azadi Sport Complex.

Iran’s coach Ali Arezoumandi had made use of Reza Nazarikia, Amir-Shayan Hesari, Mobin Khosrandi, Pouya Haghi and Parsa Fallah in the initial squad.

Iranian team rests today and will face Jordon on Monday.

The 2018 edition of WABA U16 Championship is underway with national teams of Iran, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, and Syria in attendance.
