Iran misses WABA U16 title in last two seconds!

TEHRAN, Aug. 01 (MNA) – Iranian boys’ basketball team suffered a 64-66 defeat to Lebanon and missed the opportunity to win the title of West Asian Basketball Association (WABA) U16 Championships.

In a match held on Tuesday, Lebanon managed to gain a dramatic victory over Iran in last seconds. The match had many ups and downs for the two teams. Just two seconds reaming to the end of the match Iran had the lead 64-63, however, Karl Kozah had a nice 3-point shot and changed the results to 66-64 for Lebanon.

Accordingly, the Lebanese team, winning all their four games, crowned as the champion of the event. Iran meets Syria today to determine the 2nd and 3rd ranks.

The 2018 edition of WABA U16 Championship is underway with national teams of Iran, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, and Syria in attendance. The event kicked off on Saturday in Iran’s Northern city of Gorgan and it will wrap up on August 2.
