Industry ministry puts manufacturing hybrid car at top of agenda

TEHRAN, Jul. 29 (MNA) – Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade of the Islamic Republic of Iran Barat Ghobadian said that production of hybrid and electric vehicles has been put at top of the ministry's agenda.

Most hybrid vehicles produced so far are of gasoline-electric type, although some car manufacturing companies have also produced hybrid diesel-electric cars, he maintained.

For this purpose, a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed and sealed between the Ministry of Industry for Research and Education, Academic Center for Education, Research and Cultural Activities and private sector, Ghobadian added.

Currently, macro plans have been compiled in the country for determining portfolio of cars in order to specify the number of motorcycles and cars for hybridization purposes.

With regard to the development of high-tech industries in the country, he said, this issue has been strictly followed up in the Research and Education Deputy Office of the ministry.”

Under the law, newly-established industries should be spotted at the distance of 120 km away from cities but high-tech industries are established in the cities due to their environment-friendly activities, he added.
