Vienna ministerial meeting on JCPOA kicks off

TEHRAN, Jul. 06 (MNA) – The first meeting of the joint commission of the JCPOA after US exit kicked off at noon on Friday in Vienna with EU foreign policy chief Mogherini as the chair of the assembly.

The plenary session of the ministerial meeting of the joint commission of the JCPOA kicked off on Friday noon at Palais Coburg Hotel in Vienna.

Chaired by EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini, the meeting is attended by Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, German Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Heiko Maas, Russian Foreign Minister Sergy Lavrov, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian and Britain's Minister for the Middle East, Alistair Burt.

This is the first time that the joint commission is holding a ministerial meeting after US President Trump pulled US out from the accord in early May.

Hours before the Friday meeting, the Iranian diplomatic chief Zarif posted a message on his Twitter page late on Thursday, warning the world that having both Iran comply with the nuclear agreement and sanctions against Iran at the same time is impossible.
