Zarif, Yi discuss nuclear deal after US pullout in Vienna

TEHRAN, Jul. 06 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif and Chinese diplomatic chief Wang Yi held a bilateral meeting on JCPOA after US pullout at Coburg Hotel of Vienna on Friday.

The Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi met at opulent Palais Coburg Hotel of Vienna on Friday before noon.

The two top diplomats exchanged views on the Joint Comprehensive plan of Action (JCPOA), and the fate of the pact after the unilateral withdrawal of US from the agreement.

Prior to this meeting, Mr. Zarif met with Federica Maria Mogherini, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

The Friday ministerial meeting, between the FMs of UK, Germany, Iran, France, China, Russia and the EU, is the first foreign ministers' meeting by parties remaining within the JCPOA after US President Trump unilaterally abandoned the deal.

Hours before the Friday meeting, the Iranian diplomatic chief Zarif posted a message on his Twitter page late on Thursday, warning the world that having both Iran comply with the nuclear agreement and sanctions against Iran at the same time is impossible.

The Friday meeting of EU/E3+2 top diplomats in Vienna is intended for discussing the package of P4+1 (Germany plus permanent members of the UNSC but US) which contains offers to keep Iran in the deal.
