Iran’s regional dominance made 5+1 negotiate with Iran: Amir-Abdollahian

TEHRAN, May. 07 (MNA) – Iranian Parliament's General Director for International Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Monday that Iran’s regional power forced the 6 countries of 5+1 to share negotiation table with Iran.

“The regional power of the Islamic Republic of Iran made the countries of the world to share negotiation table with Iran which ended with the JCPOA,” said Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Iranian Parliament's General Director for International Affairs.

The Iranian diplomat made the remarks on Monday in Tehran while addressing a host of academicians in Tehran University on Trump’s goals in regards to the JCPOA (the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action signed by Iran, UK, US, Russia, China, France, and Germany on July 14, 2015 in Vienna).

“The reason that forced six powerful countries of the world to negotiate with Iran was Iran’s upper-hand in the region,” reiterated the former deputy foreign minister.

“The enemies created insecurity in the region to get Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Iran, and Yemen involved in wars which were intensified by the ISIL for the interests of the enemies,” he added.

“Another function of ISIL was to cause fear among different sects to escape from each other so that Shias never go to Sunnis’ region or Christians never dare to Sunnis’ region and finally make Sunnis, Shias, and Christians live in separate parts. This soft dangerous game was devised to disintegrate this country finally,” he highlighted.

“However our friends in Iraq and Syria are doing their best to restore pre-ISIL conditions,” reassured the Iranian official.
