Iran urges expediting political solution to Syrian crisis

TEHRAN, Dec. 21 (MNA) – Iran’s Deputy FM Jaberi Ansari stressed the importance of expediting the political process to settlement of Syrian crisis and the delivery of humanitarian aid to the war-torn country.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs, Hossein Jaberi Ansari, made the remarks in a meeting with Putin’s Special Envoy to Syria Alexander Lavrentiev in the Kazakh capital, ahead of Astana 8 meeting to be held later on Thursday.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the latest political and field developments in Syria, and exchanged views on the Astana peace process in three particular areas of combating terrorism, organizing the Syrian National Dialogue Congress, and the immediate humanitarian issues.

Jaberi Ansari, for his part, highlighted Iran’s serious regard toward the Syrian settlement, and discussed with the Russian official topics related to humanitarian measures, such as transfer of detainees, kidnapped and the bodies between the two conflicting sides in Syria.

He also discussed Iran’s views on the Syrian-Syrian dialogues and ways to put an end to the ongoing crisis in the Arab country.
