According to Dmitry Peskov, presidents of Russia and Iran, Vladimir Putin and Hassan Rouhani, held a tête-à-tête after the Iran-Russia-Turkey summit on developments in Syria in the Russian city of Sochi.
During the trilateral summit, Rouhani, Putin and Erdgoan as leaders of the three guarantor states will discuss the Syrian settlement, taking into account the joint work within the framework of Astana process.
Rouhani's entourage comprises Head of President’s Office Mahmoud Vaezi, VP for Economic Affairs Mohammad Nahavandian, President’s Cultural Advisor Hessameddin Ashena, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Maj. Gen. Mohammad Bagheri, as well as Deputy Chief of Staff of the President for Political Affairs Hamid Aboutalebi.
Maj. Gen. Mohammad Bagheri met and talked with his Russian counterpart, Valery Gerasimov, on Monday.
A meeting of senior Iranian, Russian and Turkish experts was held in Tehran prior to a meeting of foreign ministers of the three countries in Antalya, Turkey where the three FMs mulled over how to proceed with Astana talks and prepared the ground for holding the summit of their countries on the Syrian issue.
