Rouhani, Putin, Erdogan to meet on Wed. in Sochi

TEHRAN, Nov. 18 (MNA) – President Rouhani will share the table of talks with President Erdogan of Turkey and President Putin of Russia in Russian port city of Sochi on Wednesday.

In a bid to further dialogue over finding a political settlement for the over a 6.5 year crisis in Syria, the presidents of three guarantor states of Iran, Turkey, and Russia will convene at state residence of President Putin of Russia in Russian port city of Sochi on Wednesday.

Iranian President Rouhani, President Erdogan of Turkey, and President Putin of Russia will also exchange views on regional developments, necessary steps to de-escalate violence in the region especially in Syria, dispatch of humanitarian reliefs to war-hit people, and the role of guarantor states at Geneva peace talks on Syria.

Iran, Russia, and Turkey are the three guarantor states of Syria peace process who supervise the establishment of peace and conclusion of political resolution for the war-struck country.

Turkish Deputy Prime Minister and Government Spokesman Bekir Bozdag told the media on last Thursday that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey will hold serious talks with his Iranian counterpart President Hassan Rouhani and President Vladimir Putin of Russia.

On the other hand, Russian First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council's Committee on International Affairs Vladimir Dzhabarov told the media that the meeting will be focused on US measures in Syria and adoption of a unanimous approach to this issue.

The foreign ministers of the three guarantor states got together in Russian capital city of Moscow on December 20, 2016 and after voicing support for resurrecting Syrian peace talks, agreed to mediate between Bashar Assad and his opposition groups to broker a concluding agreement in Syria.

At the end of the trilateral meeting in Moscow, the three foreign minister issued a joint statement underlining the independence and territorial integrity of Syria as a multi-racial, multi-sectarian, non-tribal, and democratic country with stress on finding a political solution for the crisis.
