Intl. drug trafficking network dismantled in southeast Iran

TEHRAN, Nov. 06 (MNA) – The Intelligence Ministry forces on Sunday identified and dismantled an international drug trafficking network in Sistan and Baluchestan province.

Through extensive operations carried out by the Intelligence Ministry forces, a drug trafficking network planning to transport a 2500kg drug shipment from Pakistan to Iran was identified.

Members of this drug trafficking network, led by a foreign national, had hid the shipment under petrol tanks. After discovering the network, the smugglers engaged in armed clashes with the intelligence ministry forces in order to transfer the shipment out of Iranian borders.

Over two tons of opium, three cars and satellite phones were discovered and seized during the operation.

Only a week ago, two other international drug trafficking networks were dismantled in Kerman.
