‘Israfil’ wins NETPAC award at Iranian filmfest. Australia

TEHRAN, Oct. 29 (MNA) – ‘Israfil’, director Ida Panahandeh's follow-up to ‘Nahid’, has won the NETPAC award at the 7th Iranian Film Festival Australia.

The NETPAC (Network for The Promotion of Asia Pacific Cinema) Award Winner for this year’s edition of Iranian Film Festival Australia has been awarded to Ida Panahandeh’s ‘Israfil’.

‘Israfil’ narrates the story of the widowed Mahi (Hadieh Tehrani) who loses her only son. Behrooz, her teenage sweetheart, who had left Iran following the scandal of his relationship with her, appears at the funeral. The relationship shows signs of resuming but Behrooz now has a much younger fiancé. On the horns of these emotional entanglements the three characters have to make decisions not only about their emotions, but also their future lives.

The 7th edition of Iranian Film Festival Australia, with 11 Iranian films in its screening program, travelled to 6 cities including Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, and Canberra.
