Islamic unity to promote peace in crisis-stricken region

TEHRAN, Oct. 23 (MNA) – Unity of the Islamic Ummah is effective in promoting peace among Muslims, ​​said head of Iranian-Jordanian parliamentary friendship group, pointing to the situation in Syria, Yemen, Iraq and Bahrain, which are being attacked by Takfiris.

Amir Khojasteh, Head of the Iranian-Jordanian parliamentary friendship group, met with Mohammed al-Khalidi, Jordanian charge d'affaires on Monday in Tehran.

Early into the session, Khojasteh said that Jordan and the Islamic Republic of Iran had age-old Islamic, national and cultural backgrounds, adding “the global Islamic Ummah expect Tehran and Amman to make efforts in establishing peace, tranquility and friendship.”

The Iranian MP went on to state that Iran considered Jordan as a great Islamic nation which, similar to the Islamic Republic of Iran, can be highly influential among countries of the region and the world.

“Today, many Muslim countries like Syria, Yemen, Iraq and Bahrain are in the throes of attacks by Takfiri groups though unity and solidarity of the Islamic Ummah can be used to strengthen peace and friendship among Muslims,” underlined the official while referring to the current situation in the region.

Head of the Iran-Jordan parliamentary friendship group also welcomed expansion of parliamentary cooperation by taking advantage of capacities offered by the friendship group.

Jordan’s charge d'affaires, for his part, voiced readiness to bolster cooperation between the two countries asserting that his country was after expansion of communication in all sectors.

At the end of his remarks, Mohammed al-Khalidi expressed satisfaction with the recent visits and developments while welcoming strengthening of relations in line with promotion of peace and stability in the region.
