The International free-style wrestling grand prix tournament in memory of honored Russian couch, Dmitry Korkin, is slated to kick off on September 30 in Yakutsk, Russia and will run through October 01.
Accordingly, Wrestling Federation of Iran has deployed a squad of credible and medal-hopeful freestylers to the Eurasian country.
Iran’s hope for the upcoming sportive event are pinned on Mehran Nasiri (61kg), Morteza Ghiasi and Younes Emami (65kg), Esmaeil Mahmoudi and Kamran Ghasempour (86kg) as well as Amirreza Amiri (125kg).
Held annually in Republic of Sakha, Dmitry Korkin aims to propagandize and popularize freestyle wrestling, improve sportive skills of freestyle wrestlers as well as to strengthen regional and international relations.
The tournament will be conducted under UWW freestyle rules in 57, 61, 65, 70, 74, 86, 97 and 125 weight categories.
Winners will be awarded with medals, diploma and money prizes with the first-place athlete receiving 2,000 US dollars. Second- and third-place winners will be awarded with 1,500 and 1,000 dollars respectively.
