Iranian para-shooter grabs gold at world cup in Croatia

TEHRAN, Sep. 25 (MNA) – Mehdi Zamani of Iran snatched the gold medal in P1 (men's10m air pistol SH1) category at IPC Shooting World Cup in Croatian city of Osijek.

The Iranian athlete garnered the championship in competition with 29 other shooters from around the world.

Mehdi Zamani, Majid Fallah, and Azim Karimi were the Iranian para shooters in the category. Zamani and Fallah racked up enough scores to book into the final where Zamani got to the gold podium with accumulating 235 points. Fallag did not go more than 191.8 points and finished the fourth.

At the end of the global tournament, Azim Karimi who was racing at an international venue for the first time finished 13 with a total points of 546.

The Iranian squad landed at the second position in team score with 1664 points after Serbia who got the title and before Poland who finished the third.

Around 170 athletes from 30 different countries competed World Shooting Para Sport World Cup where they collected qualification points for the 2018 World Championships in Cheongju in South Korea up for grabs.
