Female skiing squad to attend training camp in Austria

TEHRAN, Sep. 25 (MNA) – Iran’s women’s alpine skiing team have departed for Austria in order to hold a one-month ski training program Hintertux campsite.

National female skiers of Iran, led by Samira Zargari, left Tehran for Hintertux Glacier in Austria for a one-month ski training.

In addition to intense skiing sessions, Iranian athletes are also slated to conduct bodybuilding activities.

Presently, besides Iranian skiers, national athletes of 50 world countries have been deployed the the Austrian campsite.

The Hintertux Glacier is the tourist name for the glaciers of the Gefrorene-Wand-Kees, also called the Tuxer Ferner, and the nearby Riepenkees at the top of the Tuxertal, a side valley of the Zillertal in the Austrian state of Tyrol. Both glaciers are accessed by gondola and chair lifts and is one of only two ski resorts in the world offering skiing 365 days a year, the other being Zermatt in Switzerland. At its highest point the ski region reaches a height of 3,250 m in the saddle between the peaks of the Gefrorene-Wand-Spitzen.
