Mogherini says EU still backing nuke deal

TEHRAN, Sep. 20 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and European Union's Foreign Policy Chief, Federica Mogherini, met on Wednesday in New York.

During the bilateral meeting between Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and European Union's Foreign Policy Chief, Federica Mogherini, the European High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, re-asserted the commitment and support of the EU to the nuclear agreement of July 14, 2015, signed between Iran, Russia, China, UK, US, Germany, France, and EU.

The two sides also discussed the latest issues related to the nuclear agreement also known as the JCPOA (the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action) and exchanged views on the ways to fully implement the agreement.

They also conferred on broadening bilateral relations during the Wednesday meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

Meanwhile, during another meeting on Tuesday, Foreign Minister Zarif met with his British counterpart Boris Johnson who voiced London’s strenuous support to the nuclear deal. Johnson reiterated that the deal must be preserved and implemented.
