Zarif describ Girardi’s visit to Tehran as ‘very good start’

TEHRAN, Aug. 29 (MNA) – Chilean senior senator Guido Girardi who is visiting Tehran at the head of a delegation met with Iranian FM Zarif on Tuesday afternoon.

Guido Girardi, the Deputy Speaker of the Chilean Senate, who is heading a delegation to Tehran, met with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Tuesday afternoon. The two senior officials discussed expanding and deepening bilateral relations.

“Iran and Chile are both important countries in their own geopolitical locations,” asserted the senior Chilean senator. Bolstering relations, nearing the people of Iran and Chile, and expanding cooperation in the fields of science and technology were listed by Mr. Girardi as the objectives of his visit to Tehran.

He also articulated that the policies of some powerful countries toward Iran is inefficient.

Referring to diversity of areas of possible cooperation between two countries, Mr. Zarif, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, described the visit of a parliamentary delegation as a very good start. Mr. Zarif called for expansion of ties between two countries in areas of culture, tourism, science, and technology. Free trade between the two countries was described as a demonstration of good relations between Iran and Chile.

The Chilean senator who has been in Iran, meeting with senior officials, since Monday met with Iranian Parliament Deputy Speaker Masoud Pezeshkian, earlier on the day.
