Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif held talks with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras Sunday night in Athens, where the two sides conferred on expansion of bilateral relations.
Prior to this meeting, Zarif held talks with his Greek counterpart Nikos Kotzias on a wide spectrum of topics including bilateral, regional and international issues. The Iranian senior diplomat welcomed the Greece’s initiative of holding the ‘Ancient Civilizations Forum’, calling it a suitable ground for further cooperation and consultation among participating countries.
Zarif arrived in the Greek capital on Sunday morning to take part at the 1st Ministerial Conference of ‘Ancient Civilizations Forum’. The conference took place upon the initiative of Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias and his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, with representatives of Egypt, Bolivia, India, Iraq, Iran, Italy, Mexico and Peru in attendance.
Zarif met Wang Yi on the sidelines of the event where the two sides stressed closer cooperation for combating terrorism.
