In a statement issued on Monday morning, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs paid homage to martyrs of Iran Air Flight 655 which was destroyed by a surface-to-air missile fired from the United States Navy guided missile cruiser USS Vincennes on 3 July 1988 in an intentionally performed and unlawful act.
“A look at the long history of inhumane practices by the US in killing and slaughtering of innocent people around the world, including the oppressed people of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in an indication of institutionalization of various inhumane behaviors of various American governments who merely seek to achieve their goals,” the statement reads.
Iranian people deem perpetrators of the catastrophe as unreasonable claimants who commit crimes under the guise of protecting human rights and defending nations while they must be held accountable for their anti-human behavior.
“We salute souls of innocent martyrs of the hideous and painful tragedy and, while expressing sympathy with families of the victims, proclaim that the honorable nation of Iran will never forget the anti-human crime neither will they forgive its perpetrators,” the statement of Iran’s Foreign Ministry concludes.
