In the phone call that was initiated by the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Sunday evening, President Hassan Rouhani congratulated the Qatari side on Eid al-Fitr saying “a common goal for both sides can be to help Qatar’s economy and expand special relations between private sectors of the two countries.”
“Pressure, intimidation and sanction cannot be suitable solutions to possible disagreements among regional countries,” he underlined.
Highlighting that friendly and brotherly ties between Iranian and Qatari nations can benefit people of the region, Dr. Rouhani said “we look forward to having continuous cooperation with the Qatari government and strongly believe that numerous capacities for further bolstering ties between the two countries need to be properly exploited.”
He stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran calls for moderation and rationality among regional countries voicing optimism that ongoing discords be resolved through dialogue.
“The government of the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to cooperate and take any necessary measures for peace settling in the region,” added the Iranian President.
Rouhani further described the blockade against Qatar unacceptable saying “Iran’s air, ground and sea will be always open to the brother and neighbor country of Qatar.”
At the end of his remarks, he said the Islamic world required unity and integrity and the two countries could undoubtedly work together in these arenas.
Qatari Emir, for his part, extended his congratulations on Eid al-Fitr and expressed his country’s complete readiness for interaction and cooperation with Iran.
He also appreciated supports of the Iranian government and nation asserting “Tehran and Doha have always enjoyed strong and developing relations.”
“We are fully ready to strengthen bilateral ties as well as to join hands for resolving complicated issues faced by the Islamic world,” Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani concluded.
