Senate move to reinstate Iran’s sanctions breach of JCPOA: Velayati

TEHRAN, Jun. 16 (MNA) – Head of the Strategic Research Center of Iran's Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati denounced a recent move by the US Senate to reinstate anti-Tehran sanctions.

Velayati affirmed the move is clear breach of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and it defies both letter and spirit of the historic nuclear deal.

Iran’s JCPOA supervisory board will certainly examine the issue to respond appropriately to US sanctions against the Islamic Republic, he noted.

Velayati asserted that reinstation of sanctions against Iran demonstrates US desperate attempt to compensate for losses in the region.

With consecutive defeats in Iraq and Syria, US seeks to cover up the failure by imposing sanctions against the Islamic Republic, he added.
