Zarif discusses Qatar with Mogherini, counterparts in region

TEHRAN, Jun. 06 (MNA) – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif held phone talks with a number of regional counterparts as well as EU’s Mogherini on Monday.

The talks took place on Monday after Saudi Arabia, alongside Bahrain, Egypt, Libya and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) cut off diplomatic relations with Qatar on its alleged support of terrorism.

The initiative was later joined by Yemen and the Maldives.

Zarif, who had talked with his Turkish and Indonesian counterparts earlier, made phone calls with his Iraqi, Omani, Malaysian, Lebanese and Algerian counterparts later.

He also exchanged views with EU Foreign Policy chief Federica Mogherini on Monday evening.

Three of its neighbors, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain, all have blocked all land, sea and air routes to Qatar.
