Ghasemi rebukes Jordan King for ‘shallow viewpoint’ on region

TEHRAN, Apr. 09 (MNA) – Iran’s FM Spokesman Ghasemi said King of Jordan is strategically wrong in his definition of terrorism and his remarks reveal the shallow depth of his outlook toward regional developments.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi made the remarks in reaction to the accusations made by King Abdullah II of Jordan in a recent interview with the American newspaper, The Washington Post.

“The Jordanian King’s remarks in defining what constitutes as terrorism shows his trivial and shallow outlook toward the developments in region,” Ghasemi said on Saturday, adding “It is advised that he first take a look at official reports on Jordanian terrorists recruited by ISIL and other bloodthirsty groups and then make a comment on Iran which is at the front line of combating terrorism and extremism to cement security all across the region.”

Ghasemi went on to add, “voicing support for the security of the Israeli regime which basically means the insecurity of all the region, and making baseless and comical comparisons between Iran and leaders of terrorists groups, all by the leader of an Arab and Muslim country, is an unfortunate indicative of the wretched and complicated situation of the Middle East right now.”

The Foreign Ministry official further stressed that a major cause of the current chaotic situation in the region was the wrong interpretation of politicians of certain countries about the political trends and their adoption of destructive policies that would result in further insecurity and instability in the region.
