“There should be a clear distinction between terrorist groups and Syrian opposition to expel terrorists from negotiation with the Syrian government,” said Amir-Abdollahian, on Thursday, during meeting with Russian Ambassador to Iran Levan Jagarian in Tehran.
Mr. Amir-Abdollahian opened the meeting with hailing the growing bilateral relations between Tehran and Moscow and highlighted that strengthening ties between Iran and Russia as two important and influential countries benefits the both nations and contributes to stabilizing security and serenity in the region.
“Active cooperation of economic commissions of the parliaments of the two countries to follow the implementation of agreements is of prime importance,” said the Iranian diplomat after referring to the new Iranian year of 1396 which has been dubbed by the Leader of Iran as the year for ‘Resistance Economy, National Production and Employment’. He voiced the readiness of Iran's Parliament to contribute to activation of the capacities of economic development.
The two sides also exchanged views on the most important issues of the region including the crises in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, and Bahrain, in addition to discussing the latest developments in Ukraine.
After calling for a distinction between terrorists and opposition groups in Syria, Amir-Abdollahian hailed the measures of Syria in fighting terrorism and focusing on political solution of crisis. He underlined the importance and continuation of Tehran-Moscow cooperation in supporting and helping Syria.
The Iranian diplomat also condemned the continuous military attacks of Saudi Arabia against civilian Yemenis calling them ‘murder of innocent people of Yemen’ and an unforgivable crime. He called for immediate halt of attacks and removal of humanitarian blockade. “The war of Saudi Arabia against Yemen and the continuous crackdowns in Bahrain have made the region more unsecure.”
The Russian ambassador to Tehran, for his part, hailed the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the region and the constant development of bilateral relations between Iran and Russia in domestic, regional and international areas.
