Iranian, Kazakh provinces ink agricultural MoU

TEHRAN, Apr. 08 (MNA) – Head of Gorgan Chamber of Commerce said a cooperation agreement has been inked in agriculture sector between Iran’s Golestan province and Kyzylorda Region of Kazakhstan.

Ramezan Bahrami said the newly-signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) pertained to extra-territorial agriculture and aimed at development of agro sector in Kazakhstan’s Kyzylorda Region in partnership with the north Iranian province.

“Kazakhstan hold appropriate capacities for implementation of extra-territorial agriculture activities especially in areas of growing rice, corn and barley,” the official added.

Bahrami further said it had been agreed to hold a follow-up meeting in the Kazakh province in near future with Golestan trade delegation in attendance in order to implement provisions of the MoU.

The MoU-signing ceremony on Friday was attended by agriculture officials of the two provinces, consul general of Kazakhstan in Iran as well as heads of agriculture and export commissions of Gorgan Chamber.

Earlier in August 2016, a 35-strong economic delegation of Golestan made a three-day visit to Mangystau Region of the Central Asian country where an MoU for reinvigoration of relations was signed and the two sides voiced readiness to strengthen transactions in agricultural, industrial and tourism fields.

Sine old times, Golestan province has hosted about 15 thousand Kazakh nationals.

Golestan Province is located in the north-east of the country south of the Caspian Sea. Its capital is Gorgan and has shared borders with Kazakhstan.
