Iran creates cultural front against Takfiri groups

TEHRAN, Mar. 29 (MNA) – Iranian Culture Minister Salehi Amiri said Iran has created a cultural front in the face of Takfiri groups in the Middle East.

Seyed Reza Salehi Amiri, who is on an official tour to Algeria and Tunisia, made the remarks at a meeting with the Algerian Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments Mohammed Isa on Tuesday evening in Algiers.

The official, while emphasizing the need to boost ties between Tehran and Algiers, said “both sides share ideological and religious commonalities and are able to take effective common steps in the Middle East and North Africa.”

“The present century belongs to Islam,” highlighted Iran’s culture minister reiterating that culture was the key to majority of difficulties.

He said, similar to Algerians, Leader of Islamic Revolution and the country were fighting against terrorism.

“Iran and Algeria enjoy good relations in health, industry and agriculture issues though art and culture remain as the main link in bilateral ties and therefore need to be expanded.”

Culture minister said Iran conducted various religious and Quranic activities and could joint hands with Algeria in these arenas; “we believe that mosques need to turn into cultural centers.”

Reinvigoration of relations between Tehran and Algiers will benefit the Islamic world and religious and Quranic fields remains as a proper venue for joint cooperation.

Algeria’s Mohammed Isa, for his part, said his country perused the policy of developing relations with Islamic states including Iran.

He warned that religious differences should never be a subject of conflict between countries.

Isa referred to the joint Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two parties saying “the agreement requires Iran and Algeria to deepen cultural and religious ties.”

He also pointed to the influence exerted on the youth by terrorist groups through cyberspace stressing the need to pay due attention to the virtual world.
