Cultural exchanges way of building bridges between nations

TEHRAN, Mar. 28 (MNA) – Iran’s Culture Minister Salehi Amiri deemed cultural initiatives as a way of boosting political and economic ties between countries.

Iranian Minister of Culture Seyed Reza Salehi Amiri made the remarks during a joint meeting in Algeria with his Algerian counterpart Izzzedin Mayhoubi on Monday evening.

“Algeria remains as a main priority for Iran among Arab states as regards development of bilateral relations,” he said.

Salehi Amiri voiced Iran’s readiness to launch all-round cooperation with the North African country saying “we are ready to join hands in various arenas including production of joint cinematographic works, holding joint training courses for filmmakers, holding art exhibitions and events like music, theater, visual arts and tourism.”

The official went on to add that Iran and Algeria could also work together in the field of exchange, restoration and preservation of manuscripts and documents. “We are also eager to bolster cultural ties in events related to books and literature,” he asserted.

Iran’s culture minister, while highlighting that cultural dialogue between the elite and intellectuals of the two sides can promote vicinity of Iranian and Algerian people, said “the older generations in Iran and Algeria were familiar with values of both countries’ revolutions though joint actions need to be put on the agenda in order to introduce similar values to the younger generation.”

Salehi Amiri suggested that an international forum be held for sharing views on intellectual fight against terrorism in partnership between Tehran and Algiers with scholars from the Islamic world in attendance.

He urged Iran and Algeria to collaborate in Quranic arenas given that both sides enjoy prominent reciters of Quran.

At the end of his remarks, the Iranian official invited Izzzedin Mayhoubi to attend Tehran International Book Fair.

Iranian Minister of Culture Seyed Reza Salehi Amiri is on a two-day visit to Tunisia and Algeria.

Salehi Amiri will also meet some high-ranking officials of the two countries during his stay in the two capitals mainly with the objective to broaden cultural cooperation.
