Zarif holds talks with officials in Munich

TEHRAN, Feb. 18 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met with foreign counterparts and senior officials in Munich, Germany.

Accompanied by his deputies, Zarif arrived in Munich on Friday morning to attend the 53rd Munich Security Conference; he met with Staffan de Mistura on Friday morning and exchanged views on Syrian issue.

In other part of his meetings, Zarif held talks with EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini and counterparts from Turkey, Mevlut Cavusoglu, and Russia, Sergei lavrov, as well as Frech and Omani foreign ministers on Friday evening.

Zarif also met with UN The Elders exchanging views on Syria, Yemen, ISIL, Lebanon and other regional issues.

The Elders is an international non-governmental organization of public figures noted as elder statesmen, peace activists, and human rights advocates.

They underlined and praised the importance of Iran’s role in solving the regional issues and establishment of peace and stability in the region.

The 53rd Munich Security Conference kicked off later on Friday and will continue until Sunday, February 19.
