During the meeting that was held in Jakarta, Ali Larijani’s envoy Ardeshir Nourian extended Iran’s invitation for a visit to Tehran and participation in the sixth International Conference in support of Palestine’s Intifada to the Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) of Indonesia Zulkifli Hasan.
Zulkifli Hasan welcomed the invitation, saying either he or his deputy would take part in the conference.
Nourian stressed that Iran seeks development of relations with Indonesia in all areas, particularly the economic, commercial and investment fields.
“Cooperation between the two strong arms of the Muslim world can open doors to the settlement of many issues of the Islamic Ummah, particularly the Palestinian issue,” he said.
The Iranian MP thanked Indonesia for its firm positions in support of the innocent people of Palestine, inviting Indonesian officials of the People's Consultative Assembly to participate in the sixth international conference in support of Palestine in line with further cementing and increasing the Islamic Ummah’s supports in defense of Palestinians’ rights.
Zulkifli Hasan, for his part, noted his recent visit to Tehran and his meeting with Parliament Speaker Larijani and President Hassan Rouhani, saying the expansion of ties between the two countries has been now further accelerated.
“Indonesia has always defended the rights of the Palestinian people and we fully support Iran’s role in realization of these rights,” he added.
