Mohammad Javad Zarif made the remarks in a meeting with Indonesian president special envoy and former Foreign Minister Hassan Wirajuda on Sunday.
During the meeting, Wirajuda conveyed Indonesian president's invitation to Mr. Zarif addressing his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani to attend a leaders’ summit meeting in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) establishment, slated for March in Jakarta.
Expressing satisfaction over his visit to Tehran, the envoy said Indonesia welcomes expansion of bilateral ties between the two countries.
Zarif, for his part, expressed gratitude and said Iran attaches great significance to cooperation with IORA.
"Iran is a pioneer in the fight against extremism, and has proposed a resolution passed by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2013 for a World Against Violence and Extremism (WAVE)," Zarif noted, pointing to IORA’s push for the fight against extremism and terrorism.
Zarif also voiced satisfaction with the level of cooperation between the two countries.
The IORA conference, an organization with 21 member states and 7 dialogue partners, is to be held during March 5-7 in Jakarta of Indonesia.
