Iran, Kazakhstan mark 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations

TEHRAN, Jan. 31 (MNA) – It has been 25 years since the signing of the agreement on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Iran and Kazakhstan on February 1999.

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Republic of Kazakhstan, presidents and foreign ministers of the two countries exchanged congratulatory messages on Tuesday.

In his message to President Nursultan Nazarbayev, Dr. Rouhani described relations between the two countries within the framework of common interests and a unique and exemplary role model in the region, which is also a source of pride.

Also in his message, Rouhani urged expansion and consolidation of mutual relations to establish regional stability and international peace.

Nazarbayev, for his part, welcomed the boost in mutual ties and expressed hope the cooperation between the two countries and implementation of signed agreements would reach its highest level possible.

Foreign Minister Zarif also sent a message of congratulations to his Kazakh counterpart, in which he pointed to the policy of good neighborliness and hailed the big strides taken to strengthen relations between the two countries.

He stressed the need for acceleration of friendship and brotherhood consolidation between Iran and Kazakhstan and establishing regional and international peace and stability.

Kazakh Minister of Foreign Affairs Kairat Abdrakhmanov, for his part, referring to the official visit of the presidents of the two countries which created a new impetus to the development of cooperation and capacity building, stressed the need for the consolidation of friendly ties and cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Islamic Republic of Iran within the framework of national interests.
