Female GM holds Russian rival at draw

TEHRAN, Nov. 21 (MNA) – Iranian Woman Grand Master Khademalsharieh tied against a tough host country contestant in her second encounter at the final leg of the FIDE Women’s GP in Russia.

Alexandra Kosteniuk from Russia, who enjoys the fifth place in world rankings as well as a 2008 world title, was the opponent of Iran’s International Master and Woman Grand Master Sarasadat Khademalsharieh at the fifth and final leg of the FIDE Women’s Grand Prix 2015/2016.

The showdown was held on Sunday at Ugra Chess Academy in Russia’s Khanty Mansiysk where the Iranian side bagged her second invaluable draw at the tournament.

Iran’s only representative at the renowned sportive event had previously held title-defender Dronavalli Harika at a precious draw in her opening encounter.

The final and decisive leg of the FIDE Women’s Grand Prix 2015/2016 kicked off on November 18th in Russia and will run through December 2nd.

The winner of the Women’s Grand Prix series 2015/16 will play with the Women World Champion in a 10-game match for the Women’s World Championship title.
