The Iranian Woman Grand Master Khademalsharieh managed to bag her first triumph at the final and decisive leg of the FIDE Women’s Grand Prix 2015/2016 in Ugra Chess Academy in Russia’s Khanty Mansiysk.
In the first round of the tournament, Iran’s only representative held India’s Dronavalli Harika, who won the title in the previous leg, at a draw before tying with the 2008 champion Alexandra Kosteniuk from the host country.
Meanwhile on Monday, the Iranian chess player prevailed over Russia’s Valentina Gunina in her third showdown at the prominent sportive event to secure her first win.
Expounding on her performance during the first three rounds of the fifth leg of the FIDE Women’s Grand Prix, Sarasadat Khademalsharieh said the first encounter was held smoothly while the following two ones were far more complicated.
“In the second round, Kosteniuk had the upper hand early into the game though unfavorable conditions did not prevail for long,” said Iran’s female IM adding “the contest changed in my favor for making better moves though the game ended in a tie much to my chagrin.”
She went on to describe her third fixture saying “the Russian opponent spent 50 minutes on a single mover which gave me the lead as regard time.”
“Despite making some wrong moves later into the game, I turned out victorious overall,” said Khademalsharieh.
FIDE Women’s Grand Prix 2015/2016 is being competed from November 18th till December 2nd at Ugra Chess Academy in Russia’s Khanty Mansiysk.
