Iran slams suicide bombing in west of Karbala

TEHRAN, Nov. 14 (MNA) – Iran has strongly condemned a Mon. suicide bombing in west of Karbala, Iraq, which left six people killed and six others wounded.

A suicide bomber blew himself up inside a house at Ain Tamr, west of Iraqi city of Karbala on Monday, which killed as many as six Iraqi people and wounded six others.

According to a spokesperson for the ministry in Baghdad, “six suicide bombers had sneaked into al-Jihad district at Ain Tamr precinct, west of Karbala. Security forces engaged with, and killed, five of them”, but the last bomber evaded the security forces and blew himself up inside the house.

Following the attack, Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi issued a statement in strong condemnation of it, and expressed his deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of victims, as well as the nation and government of Iraq.

“During such a sacred time when a massive group of pilgrims have embarked on a spiritual journey to Karbala on bare feet, the Takfiri terrorists once again attacked defenseless people and left another stain of shame and dishonor on their already dark and disgraceful record in the region and their long history of savagery,” Ghasemi lamented.

He went on to once again stress Iran’s full support for the Iraqi government and nation in combating terrorism.
