Bahram Ghasemi, spokesperson of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, pointed to the attack on religious mourners in the Nigerian city of Kano emphasizing “repeated killing of Muslims in a religious community, which is peaceful and free of intimidation or violence, is worrying and unacceptable.”
The official urged Nigerian authorities to exercise more vigilance in the face of violence and disunity as well as to take serious measures to prevent recurrence of similar crimes.
The violence took place during a march of a huge number of members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) from the city of Kano to Zaria where at least nine people were killed by the police.
