Iran's Ambassador to Moscow Mehdi Sanaei and the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Igor Shuvalov, at a meeting, discussed the latest status of bilateral economic cooperation between the two countries.
During the joint session, both parties pointed out the importance of expanding mutual economic relations and the need to expedite implementation of Green Corridor customs, seasonal electricity exchange project among Iran, Russia and Azerbaijan as well as finalizing the contract for construction of four thermal power plants in Igor Shuvalov’s upcoming visit to Tehran.
Other issues discussed at the meeting included holding the 13th Session of the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation held in Tehran in December, following up the inking of free trade agreements, analyzing consular and trade visa issues as well as bilateral agricultural cooperation with emphasis on increasing the number of export permits for dairy, water and protein products.
The parties, while referring to the 70-percent rise in the volume of Iran-Russia trade in the first six months of the current year and the increase in the number of tourists in both states, called for elimination of tariff and non-tariff barriers to development of bilateral trade relations.
