Youth chess players to vie at World C’ships in Russia

TEHRAN, Sep. 21 (MNA) – Iran’s youth chess squad, comprising 11 athletes, have departed for Russia to take part in the World Youth U14, U16 and U18 Championships 2016.

The tournament is underway in Khanty-Mansiysk of Russia from September 20 till October 04 with attendance of the best young players of the world.

Iran’s national youth chess team is participating at the evet in both open and girls’ sections.

Anahita Zahedifar, Mobina Alinasab, Vesal Hamedinia and Mohadeseh Alijanzadeh are playing in the women’s team while the country’s boys include Mersad Khodashenas, Seyed Khalil Mousavi, Arian Gholami, Arash Tahbaz, Parham Maghsoudlu, Seyed Mohammad Amin Tabatabei as well as Shahin Lorpari Zanganeh.

Underway in Ugra Chess Academy, the FIDE World Youth U14, U16, U18 Championships 2016 has attracted 226 chess players from 58 countries in the open section in addition to 184 athletes from 52 states in the women’s division.

The players who take the first three places in each event will be awarded with Gold, Silver and Bronze medals as well as Certificates while those who take 4-10th places will be awarded special prizes.
