“The Master of a third-party vessel has reported sighting another vessel on fire. Status of crew is unknown,” UKMTO said in a statement.
The incident occurred 17km (9 nautical miles) north of Khasab, Oman.
Iran has said the strait will remain closed until the US accepts its seven-day plan to reopen the crucial waterway for global trade.
