Iranian team grabs 4 medals at Intl. Biology Olympiad

TEHRAN, Jul. 26 (MNA) – Young Iranian biologists have won one silver and 3 bronze medals in the 27th round of International Biology Olympiad held in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The Iranian team consisted of Kian Najimi, who won the silver medal, and Alireza Darzi Ramandi, Mohammad Sadeghi, and Mahdieh Hamedi Asil, each receiving a bronze medal in the international competitions.

In the 26th IBO which took place in Denmark, Iranian team managed to rank 5th by grabbing one gold, two silver and one bronze medals. Iran is scheduled to host the 29th edition of the international event in 2018. 

The International Biology Olympiad (IBO) is an annual event where students from all over the world compete on their knowledge of biology. The participants are school students up to age 19. To take part in the IBO, the students must be in the top four in the National Biology Olympiad in their individual countries.

The 27th edition of the International Biology Olympiad took place in Hanoi, Vietnam on 17-24 July 2016.
