During a meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Slovenia Morteza Darzi Ramandi on Tuesday, Erjavec underlined that Ljubljana will send its temporary chargé d'affaires to Tehran to reopen Slovenia's embassy.
He expressed happiness with the resumption of ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran, saying “the time is ripe to further our relations with Iran with a major step of reopening embassy in Iran.”
Erjavec assessed as positive the bilateral relations, and stressed the need to strengthen interaction and exchanges between officials of the two countries.
The Iranian ambassador on his part described Slovenia's decision to reopen its embassy in Tehran as a constructive measure.
Slovenia's FM expressed the hope that, at the first possible opportunity, he will travel to the Islamic Republic of Iran to officially reopen the embassy.
Ramandi, for his part, said it is a vital step towards strengthening ties between the two countries.
Iran’s ambassador to Ljubljana, evaluating Iran-Slovenia relations positive, especially following the implementation of JCPOA and lifting of sanctions, said Iran welcomes Slovenian government's decision to reopen its embassy and considers it an important step toward strengthening bilateral relations.
The two countries have taken a foreign policy strategy based on the development of economic diplomacy, which is a solid foundation for strengthening economic and trade relations between the two sides.
“The main purpose of Iran and Slovenia in the development of economic cooperation is to get access to the third and regional markets; fortunately, the necessary capacity exists in both countries.” Ramandi added.
