President Rouhani's trip to Paris paved the way for further mutual cooperation, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said at a joint press conference with his French counterpart Jean-Marc Ayrault on Wednesday.
He evaluated French FM's remarks on the fight against terrorism positive and constructive and reiterated "terrorism knows no boundaries."
Cooperation between the two countries is based on long-standing and traditional relations to benefit the two nations and establish peace and stability in the world.
Regarding the ways of cooperation, Zarif said Tehran and Paris will expand relations in the field of economy especially in automotive manufacturing.
He noted the cooperation in tourism and culture would help two countries reach mutual understanding within the framework of President Rouhani's trip to Paris.
Zarif said Iran has sympathy wherever terrorism exists, saying all the world should cooperate to deal with the financial and human benefits for extremism. "We are prepared for cross-regional dialogue in this field."
In another part of his speech, Zarif said Iran's strategy was based on establishment of ceasefire, humanitarian aid, and political solution for Syrian crisis.
Jean-Marc Ayrault, for his part, said France could be a great partner for Iran, adding "we want a long-term cooperation with Tehran."
He first congratulated Iranian counterpart for the historic nuclear deal, saying the agreement which is beneficial to both sides, opened a new chapter in Iran's international relations with the world and France could now be a great partner for Iranian side.
"We discussed and exchanged views over the issues related to Syria, Lebanon and Yemen's painful condition that affects the security of the region," Ayrault said. "The region needs peace, and we want a long-term cooperation with Iran to reach a solution to the regional issues."
Turning to economic relations, he noted that Tehran and Paris have signed a contract in auto making field with 4 hundred million euros investment between PS Android and Iran Khodro. "Paris wants sanctions lifted fully and will work for it seriously," Ayrault said reassuring he had wasted no time to discuss the banking issues with US counterpart John Kerry. He noted some progresses have been made regarding the issue.
