“Iran provides the safest and the most available route for transiting goods to India and China,” said Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif addressing a gathering on Iran-Latvia trade at Radisson Blu Hotel of Riga on Thursday.
Voicing gratitude for all the efforts of those who organized and ran the meeting, Zarif hailed the current situation which provides the best atmosphere for developing economic ties between the two countries.
“There are many Iranian traders accompanying me who are determined to contract with their Latvian partners,” underlined the Iranian senior diplomat in his speech.
Zarif reassured the Latvian businessmen, traders, investors and economic activists that Iran is a very safe country for investment and trade.
“Anyway, I think, now, the time is ripe for developing economic activities in both Iran and Latvia, and the two countries can expand not only economic ties but also political and cultural cooperation,” asserted the head of Iran’s diplomacy.
The senior diplomat stressed that as Iran is one of the top ten countries in nano-technologies and bio-technologies, the cooperation can be of the highest benefit for both countries.
“Economic cooperation of Iran and Latvia can guarantee the peace and security in the region,” highlighted the Iranian foreign minister.
After addressing the meeting, Mr. Zarif met with his Latvian counterpart, Edgars Rinkēvičs, and in addition to signing an MoU on political and bilateral cooperation, exchanged views on the latest global issues of mutual interests.
